Unexplained Bruises and Scrapes and Rollerskating...

This morning, I got up and got my butt to the gym for 6am yoga/kickboxing combo class. Intense cardio/stretching workout that makes me feel a little like a quaking pretzel.

Upon returning home and getting ready to shower, I noticed a fairly gigantic bruise on my right thigh. Nowhere near any recent pump site spots. It doesn't hurt at all - but it's dark purple and mean-looking. I also noticed another bruise, the same dark purple on the top of my foot. That one's a bit sore. And then, at work this morning, I realized that something on my left elbow was irritating the crap out of me. Sure enough - I look and there's a scrape and a bruise... Clear as day.

I'm wondering how these injuries are occurring. I am convinced I have either been playing rugby in my sleep:

Or maybe walking into things or falling down stairs and then forgetting:

Either way, my body looks sort of like a battlefield.

And onto - rollerskating. Someone asked me the other night if I might be interested in coming down and skating with some of these ladies: http://www.providencerollerderby.com/ I don't know. I'm thinking I'm going to give it a try. Just once. It'll only be during a practice and I was told I don't have to participate in drills - which means, unless I fall on my own, I won't be subject to bruising, pushing, or broken teeth. So Why Not? I'll write more if/when this happens. Until then - imagine me - doing this:

Are you laughing yet? I am.

Nicole, if I was still in Providence, I would totally do RollerDerby with you. Seriously.

Actually, I'm shocked at how serious I am. I think I'm just itching to elbow someone in the jaw. ;)

I am not coordinated enough for rollerskating, but I will totally cheer both you and Kerri in the stands if you ever become rollergirls. Beat 'em up!

What about a DOC roller derby? Hannah, we can teach you to skate. We could recruit Shannon and Julia, for sure - and I bet other OC girls would be down... Of course there's really nobody in the crowd I'd want to elbow in the face (LOL, Kerri)... It would be a kind and supportive sort of roller derby. Please and thank you.

I'm lousy on skates, but damn handy with the bandages and the neosporin... :-)

That settles it, Sandra, your team nickname is Doc Bloodthirsty.

I'm going to be Nikki Knuckleball.

Kerri - your name? And Hannah?

I'm all for WATCHING violence, but participating...not so much. ;)

OK, Rachel, you can come and watch - though as I said, the DOC Derby'd be all about the peace, love, and insulin.

OMG, we would TOTALLY KICK ASS and introduce ourselves later!

I'm so in!

My name would be Shannon Shindigger 'cause I'm gonna party all over their busted shins (do you get the double entendre in the name?)

LMAO, we could come out to Limp Bizkit's "Just One Of Those Days". That could be the DOC Girls' anthem.

See - I knew Shannon would be totally game. Kick Ass is right.

Hmmm. Rachel the Rabid Raccoon?

(Trying to think along the lines of Garbage Pail Kids...which was Rachel Rat..)

Could I be a cheerleader? That would rock!

George - You read my mind. I was picturing the boys of the DOC cheering us on - with a name like the "Glucose Gods." Of course, you'd have to fight with Scott to determine who'd be the team captain... Nikki Knuckleball

Haha, if we go with DOC-related skate names, we should totally have some of these in there...

Insu Lynn
Minnie Med
Lilly 'Log

We'll all have a secret move called the "Accu-CHECK" where we beat down our opponents, but it'll be virtually pain free for us. Ha!

As for my own REAL roller derby name, I'll be thinking about that for the rest of the afternoon. I'll get back to ya. ;)

LOL!! This is too good!

Indeed. I skate next week ladies and gents. Rock on.

Clean-Sweep Kerri. No opponent left unturned. :)

It's taken me a full week to think up that name.

Awesome - I LOVE it.

Our team is coming together... I wonder where Hannah is with her name??? Have to bug that lady. :)
