You might know who you are...
Me... I'm a part of your circle of friends
And we, noticed you don't come around
And me, I think it all depends. On you.
Touching ground with us.
I quit. I give up. Nothing's good enough for anybody else, it seems.
And I quit. I give up. Nothing's good enough for anybody else.
And on being alone.
It's the best way to be. When I'm by myself it's the best way to be.
When I'm all alone it's the best way to be. When I'm by myself.
Nobody else can say.
Goodbye.
Everything is temporary, anyway.
When the streets are wet, the colors slip into the sky.
And I don't know why, but that means you and I are.
That means you and I are.
I quit.
Me... I'm a part of your circle of friends
And we, noticed you don't come around

Before I saw it was an Edie Brickell song, I thought it was a poem you wrote and I thought to myself that it sounds like it could be song lyrics and that you should get someone to write the music to go with it.
I had a friend like that once. Had being the operative word. I used to sing that song when I thought of her.
I think people often forget that friendship is a two way street. The traffic can run faster or slower at times, but it always has to run both ways.
