Quick Update

Endo visit this morning.

Stats:

Weight - down another 9 pounds... Holy crap. I'm disappearing. Not really. But I'm within 6 pounds... (6 pounds!) of the weight I felt the best at in my down and dirty days!

A1C - Up a little. Not surpising. Though disappointing. I'm at 6.5% which is still decent - but up. Not surprising because I've been a half wit about logging. I test, I just don't log and when I don't log, it's easy to ignore the high blood sugars... Also, I've cut out lows almost entirely. So this is not terrible news, but I want it lower.

Cholesterol - Up. By quite a bit. I think I'm case in point for the new Zetia study that's out. It's just not working. So, we're going to try a very low dose statin to see if I tolerate it. Blah.

Thyroid numbers look OK, but not great.

All in all, not a bad visit. And I must say. I LOVE my endo. He's laid back enough that I don't feel scolded when I leave his office, but I wish he were just slightly more of a hard ass. I feel like I got away with something...

More later on blogabetes. See you around!

Way to go on the weight!

Though I know it's all relative, that 6.5 A1C sounds not too shabby.

Looks like you have a game plan on it and the other stuff, so I'm sure you'll be able to whip them in shape - like, rollergirl style!

Greg defies the recent study on Zetia/Vytorin. For the first time, he's been able to lower his LDL (well) below 100.

I didn't know (or maybe remember) you had thyroid issues, too.

Thanks, Scott. I'm not so much complaining about the A1C, but I know I can do better - so it's another thing to strive at. And I've been skating three times with the Derby girls over the past three months. Those chicks are brutal. I guess bringing a derby smackdown on those numbers just may be a good idea... :)

Mine went down for the first several months - then popped right back up again, Rachel. So weird. I hope I'm able to tolerate the statin. Yup. I got the thyroid package with the diabetes. Somehow, for the first 29 years of my life, I was able to avoid the thyroid business, but the moment I turned 30, we couldn't get those levels right at all. So it's cynthroid for this girl... :)

Great job on the weight as well as the A1C.

The main thing I love about Brendon's endo is that she's a hard ass without making us feel like we're doing something wrong or doing a poor job. She makes us come up with ways to make his health better.

Anywho...sounded like a good visit and I hope your cholesterol meds get figured out!

Wow, that's a great a1c, from y perspective.

Congrats on the weight loss, too. Well done.
